Parallel Universes: Producing Live Performances of Style Period Musics in the Music Industry Studies Curriculum
Keywords:

Abstract
Undergraduate-level Music Industry Studies (MIS) programs that include single-semester courses in western music history can effectively reinforce course content through the production of live performances of period music. Teams comprised of a manager, a publicist, and a recording engineer are responsible for finding musicians, booking venues, advertising, and recording final performances. By performing these tasks, students’ comprehension is enhanced of the socio-historical contexts in which the music representing each style period was performed.
