International Symposium for Music History Pedagogy, São Paulo, August 4–7, 2010
Abstract
A summary of Il simpósio internacional para a pedagogia da história da música (International Symposium for Music History Pedagogy) held at Universidade de São Paulo, August 4–7, 2010 including a list of paper sessions, roundtables, and presenters. As the first international conference on music history pedagogy, the symposium featured speakers from South America and the United States. Highlights of the symposium included discussion of the role of socio-political theory (particularly Marxism) in music history teaching, music history teaching practices at various institutions, and the development of a Brazilian Association for Teachers of Music History.
