The AMS urges members to contact Congress about pending tax legislation

Tax legislation under consideration by Congress may reclassify graduate tuition waivers as taxable income, significantly increasing the tax liability of hundreds of thousands of graduate students. Additional information is available on the blog of the National Humanities Alliance (NHA).

If you wish to support graduate students in musicology programs and state your opposition to the proposal to tax traduate tuition waivers, we urge you to contact members of the Senate who may be undecided about portions of the bill. The number to call in order to talk with senators or representatives is the US Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

You can also find information about contacting senators by phone or email via this link.

Additionally, you can use the NHA contact tool to write members of congress.
