Howard Mayer Brown Fellowship Competition

Online Application

Deadline: 5 p.m. EST, December 15, 2018

The application form will become available about 20 November 2018.

Important: please read the detailed guidelines for application materials and requirements prior to beginning your application.

Non-members: please click here to register before beginning the online submission process. Upon registering you will be e-mailed a password and be able to log in. (AMS members should log in rather than registering here).

The online application submission process is largely self-explanatory. During this process, this Web site also serves as a temporary repository for your application. Your application details will be saved in our database, and you may update the application as often as you wish before submitting.

The application consists of three pages of forms:

  1. Personal information.
  2. Student status, names of those writing letters of support, and 250-word summary of areas of research or specific topics you intend to pursue.
  3. Upload THREE documents: a) a personal statement; b) a curriculum vitae; c) a sample or samples of your work.

Important notes:

  1. Check file size limits and edit as necessary. (Contact the AMS office if problems in this regard arise.)
  2. DO NOT plan to submit less than one day prior to deadline. Upload speeds slow with increased traffic and accidents happen! Do not request office assistance less than 48 hours prior to the deadline.

Further information is provided on the forms themselves to guide you through the submission process.

Please note that in addition to the online submissions, you must ask three referees to provide three letters of recommendation, one of which can be a letter of nomination. Full instructions pertaining to these letters are given in the Application Guidelines (item 5) and on Page 3 of the online application form.

Please be sure to include your name on all uploaded documents.

AMS members: Please use the member login.

Nonmember Users: Click HERE to register and obtain a password. (You will return to this page and enter your login email and password after registering.)
