Committee on Women and Gender: Endowed Lectureship
The Committee has long sought a way to honor outstanding scholarship on women and gender, and following the inspired suggestion of AMS President Ellen Harris, we are working to create an endowed lecture to take place each year at the AMS Annual Meeting.
Our approach to fund-raising is a novel one for the AMS: we are asking for those interested to sponsor one or more blocks (cost $200 each) of a “name quilt”; the first block will bear the name of the donor; if desired, additional blocks may be purchased to honor one or more individuals.
Support has been strong, and the inaugural lecture will be presented at the 2017 Annual Meeting, to take place in the symbolically appropriate city of Rochester, New York, home of women’s rights champion Susan B. Anthony. The completed quilt will be raffled at the same meeting.
Would you like to support the CWG Endowed Lectureship? Any and every contribution is helpful and appreciated! Thank you for your support.
